vb. n. {Advancing}(#).] [OE. avancen, avauncen, F. avancer,
fr. a supposed LL. abantiare; ab ante (F. avant) before.
The spelling with d was a mistake, a- being supposed to be
fr. L. ad. See {Avaunt}.]
